Jacob Joseph Cox Software Engineer
I WRITE SCRIPTS.
ABOUT:
I am a Playwright, Builder, and Full-Stack Software Engineer with experience working on projects using JavaScript, Express, React, Python, SQL, MongoDB, and a plain old pen and notepad. I bring over a decade of project management experience and a Do-It-Ourselves pride of ownership to every team I’ve worked with—investigating the demands of a problem and using that to guide our process and energize our efforts.
I believe that everyone has the ability to achieve big things, some people simply need a more detailed map to get there. Stories are that map. Narrative structures play an important role in all of my work, not solely my playwriting. Stories are a way to communicate with a project's stakeholders; they are a way to navigate the production cycle; they turn complex ideas into comprehensible tasks. It's through the use of story that a successful team can plot the path forward from those original pie-in-the sky moments of inspiration, through the thicket of planning, development, and implementation.
I believe in tech with a purpose that reflects its making—technology as a guide that users employ to iterate versions of a fuller self and a more functional world; mobile apps that escort artists of all stripes through the creative process; educational instruction that counsels students through the gauntlet of learning a new skill. If fear is the root of inaction, then a good map and a little assurance is surely a force for change. I create tangible guideposts for aspirational journeys. I help make dreams, reality.

Quizactly
Quizactly is a trivia game that provides a random selection of multiple choice questions for the user to answer. Each correct answer earns the user one point and each incorrect answer docks them a point. One round is 10 questions long, with the score tallying as the game progresses. High score is saved in local storage so players can play against each other. There is an option to clear the high score on Quizactly's landing page.

gimme5
Gimme5 is an exercise app for writers who feel like they never have the time to get a new project off the ground. The app takes advantage of small periods of down time and prompts the user to begin flexing their creative thinking skills by having them brainstorm lists of five responses to various questions generated around a single randomly-generated word. The writer then uses those responses to create vibrant and wholly original works. Gimme5 is a Writing Workshop you can fit in your pocket -- a helping hand that the writer can grasp as they work their way from a glimmer of inspiration to a full-fledged first draft.

Dynamic Web Site
A website for my playwriting work that includes information about my plays (cast size, development history, production photos, synopsis, etc). I wanted the site to be easy to maintain, so I decided to create a form that takes in information and uploaded production photos and dynamically styles a new page for that play. It allows me to spend more time creating plays and less time maintaining my site.

10bagger
10Bagger is a stock research app. The user can create an account for themself and have access to the app's research capabilities. Searching for a stock ticker returns the stock's latest price along with information on the company's sector, an overview of what the company does, along with a few basic numbers such as 52-week highs/lows and P/E ratio. The user also has access to the company's last five annual income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. They can then create a "watchlist" and add the stock to it if they want to keep tabs on it.
